We have a new tea on the shelves – Tanzania Oolong – which is grown in the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania. Bente Luther-Medoch, originally from Schleswig-Holstein, has lived in Tanzania since 1992, where she runs a tea plantation at Kilimanjaro with her husband.

Bente’s tea plantation is known for producing teas of exceptional quality. Her commitment to tea cultivation has resulted in quality teas that differ significantly from the region’s average tea products.

All teas are made by hand in Bente’s manufaktur. Tanzania Oolong is characterized by its partially fermented, brownish-reddish leaf with pale leaf tips.

The tea takes on a medium brown color when brewed and offers a mild-aromatic flavor profile that is sweet and slightly spicy.

The tea costs DKK 91 per 100 grams and can be purchased HERE.

Bente works with local people and farmers and contributes to ensuring fair trade and is focused on improving living conditions in the local community.

Bente is also the co-founder of the “Kilimanjaro Project Initiative e.V.” in Germany, an organization that contributes to local development projects with a focus on sustainability and societal progress.
