In southern India (Blue Mountains) you will find the garden Chamraj, which is one of the world’s highest tea gardens. The leaves from these gardens are harvested from over 100-year-old Camelia sinensis tea bushes. Nilgiri Frost Tea is a very special tea that is produced in the winter months of January and February, when the frost sets in at altitudes above 2,000 meters. It is not a question of harsh frost, but of moderate frost, where the cold is reflected on the leaves of the bush. Due to the impact of the cold, the aromas in the tea leaves become very intense. The tea leaves contain a large amount of moisture and are rolled relatively hard for South Indian teas. This tea impresses with its aromatic freshness and notes of nutmeg. Profile: Nilgiri Frost consists of high-grown buds and lateral leaves. It is an exclusive tea with many bright leaves/”tips”. This tea has a mild, floral and nutty bouquet, and is delightfully mouthwatering. Recommended preparation: 100°C water/6 g. per liter water. Time: 6 minutes.
