This true tea classic became part of the assortment of A.C Perchs Thehandel thanks to Else Hincheldey. She argued for the growing popularity of the tea — for good reasons.
Perch’s Earl Grey is made from a soft black Chinese Keemun, which makes a nice golden color in the cup. The black tea is delightfully matched by bergamot, which adds a refreshing aroma to the tea.
The tea is named after British Prime Minister Earl Grey by Howick Hall. It is said that during a trip to China, Earl Grey saved the life of a mandarin, and to show his gratitude, the Earl of Grey was given the recipe for a delicate bergamot tea. He took the recipe with him back to England, and the tea is today the most widespread tea in the world.
