Rooibos
Rooibos was discovered by the Khoikhoi people and was registered by the botanist C. P. Thunberg in 1772 under the name Aspalatus Linearis, Borbonia Pinifolia. The plant resembles a small conifer and grows only in the small Cederberg Mountains mountain range 250 km north of Cape Town, South Africa. Although Rooibos is not considered tea, it is nevertheless popular because of its health-giving properties. The Rooibos plant contains large amounts of antioxidants, has a high content of C vitamins, iron and calcium. Rooibos also does not contain caffeine.
