Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) is known for its year-round production, with its beautiful terrain, lush vegetation and mild climate. In the hot low-lying areas you can pick every eight days, and in the high-lying areas you can pick every ten to fourteenth day. The Ceylon teas are divided into two quality categories: high grown, where the plants are grown at 1,200 – 2,300 meters and low grown, which is considered to be slightly inferior quality, growing at 500 – 1,200 meters.
